Change Futures has many options when booking an appointment for psychology services.

Our Fees

Each session booking for psychology services is for one (1) hour. The therapeutic session will last for around 50 minutes. This leaves 10 minutes for your psychologist to complete essential work, such as case notes, GP reports, and other communication within the session window. Please see the psychologist schedule of fees and counselling fees listed below.

Private psychologist fees. Referral or Mental Health Care Plan, or Mental health treatment plan.

Our private psychologist consultation fee for a one (1) hour session is $193.

The cost of a one (1) hour session for a Clinical Psychologist is $237.

The cost of a one (1) hour consultation for Counsellors is $92.

All fees are payable at the end of the session by cash or credit card.

NDIS:

Psychologist fees for sessions provided through the NDIS are $193 per hour.

Cancellation Policy

If for some reason you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we require at least 24-hours notice. Cancellation within 24-hours and no shows will incur a fee of $80 of the session cost.

These payments are processed automatically through Halaxy and will also incur a processing fee (maximum cost of 2% plus $1 per transaction). This cancellation fee is not claimable through Medicare or your private health fund. This amount will be automatically debited from your nominated debit/credit card stored on Halaxy or an invoice will be sent via email/post if this payment information has not been provided.

All outstanding cancellation fees must be paid prior to booking your next appointment. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please speak with your practitioner or a member of our customer service team.

Medicare and Health Fund Rebates

You may be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan which is a formal referral written by a GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist for either you or your child. Your doctor will determine your eligibility for a mental health treatment plan based on your symptoms. Symptoms which meet criteria for a mental health care plan include depression, anxiety, and adjustment issues, among others.

Medicare rebates vary from $93.35 for a registered psychologist to $137.05 for a clinical psychologist.

When making the appointment with your doctor, please mention that you would like to initiate a Mental Health Care Plan with a psychologist, and ask for a longer consultation.

The Mental Health Care Plan must be brought with you to your first appointment. A Medicare rebate is not available unless you have a Mental Health Care Plan. The Plan will enable you to claim a Medicare rebate for a maximum of 10 appointments per year.

After 6 sessions, the psychologist will send a brief letter to the referring medical professional to inform them about your progress. Your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist will need to see you or your child (if applicable) before they will renew the Mental Health Care Plan for further sessions.

The mental health care plan is only valid for 12 months from the date of referral.

Private Health Fund Rebates

You may also be able to access rebates for psychology services through your private health insurance.

If you have private health insurance you will need to consult with your insurer to determine the private health fund rebates that you are eligible for when paying psychologist consultation fees, as Change Futures cannot offer a guide on your health fund rebates. Your options will vary depending on your level of cover. You can visit the Australian Psychological Society site, which will offer some information on health fund rebates offered for psychologist fees.

You cannot obtain a health fund rebate AND a Medicare rebate for the same session.
